Throughout the construction industry we see generations of families working side by side, continuing a legacy of building contractors and tradesmen. Unfortunately this is not the case in the disenfranchised areas represented by Morgan Developments. Throughout Lambeth and the surrounding areas we cover in London, unemployment is considerably higher and the construction industry is suffering a significant skills shortage.
Morgan Developments was established as a social enterprise in 2020 to close this skills gap and encourage the training and development of our future generations. We specialise in domestic and commercial building services, and oversee the education and placement of those who avail of our apprenticeships.
The construction industry as a whole provides a wealth of opportunities for younger generations and those who wish to change their employment status by upskilling. It’s an area that will always be operating as both new builds and renovations are consistently in demand across the capital and the surrounding areas.
As not everyone wishes to work within the confines of an office space, those with creative abilities and the desire to build and develop have the chance to do so by joining Morgan Developments’ apprenticeship programmes and learning onsite. Not only does this promote a regular and focused work ethic, it encourages positivity in the guise of a brighter and more financially sustainable future.
It is, however, important to train our apprentices and future generations properly as bad habits picked up from older builders and tradesmen may lead to potential workplace accidents or incomplete workmanship.
COntact UsTime-served experiences are no longer accepted onsite with procedures now in place to guarantee all parties working in the construction industry hold the relevant qualifications for their areas of expertise. Morgan Developments, for example, ensures all apprentices, builders and tradesmen carry CSCS cards and are accredited to the correct service industries where appropriate. These are essential documents as individuals will not be capable of carrying out any form of domestic or commercial building services onsite without them.
The proper training and qualifications could lead to our Lambeth-based apprentices and newly upskilled workers starting up their own businesses within the construction industry and leading the way with new technologies or working methods.
Without our social enterprise’s systems in place and the opportunities they provide, future employers may miss the chance of meeting key personnel and potential business partners.
